Gareth Fisher was born in the English Lake district.
He studied sculpture at the Edinburgh college of art.
His sculpture was prominent in Edinburgh during the eighties with a fruitmarket exhibition, selection for the second British art show and major international exhibitions in New York and Toronto. In the nineties he had one person shows in Prague and Milan. More recently his sculpture and drawing have been seen regularly in northern Italy. He is professor of sculpture at Duncan of Jordanstone college of art in Dundee.
Several new works will feature at a major Edinburgh festival exhibition this year 2008. The exhibition curated by Graeme Todd and Liz Adamson of Polarcap ltd, will occupy an astonishing converted mill space on the edge of Edinburgh called Eskmills.
